Business Management

An "academic" business course which covers major business areas such as Marketing, Finance, Personnel or Human Resources and the use of IT to assist in decision making in business situations. Much of the course is based on a variety of profiles of real business and many of these are available on video. At Standard Grade a large part of teaching and assessment uses a CD ROM version of a virtual business. Pupils are assessed on their running of their version of the virtual business during the course. At all levels it is possible to access CD ROMs and the Internet to find up-to-date information on modern business.  The subject is also useful to those who wish to follow specialist courses in further or higher education such as Accounting and Finance, Economics or Marketing.
