Our Sponsored walk is held every 18 months to raise money for school
funds. Sometimes it is for a very specific project: the school mini-bus
and money for the all-weather pitch are two examples. But this year it
was simply to boost the School Fund which is used to finance a whole
range of extra-curricular activities for the pupils. We pay for the
buses we hire from the School Fund and they are certainly a major drain
on our finances. A very big thank you, therefore to all who supported
the Sponsored Walk which took place just before the Easter break. A
total of over £4000.00 was raised. Some pupils have always chosen to run
the walk which is out to Westmuir and back. This time we decided to make
it a proper event. The runners were organised into age groups, there was
a common start and timings were taken. The picture below shows the
beginning of the senior race. Some really superb times were set and they
will present quite a challenge for runners to beat in our next walk. The
official record is now 20 minutes, 53 seconds, set by Stuart Reid (S4).
