In September the S4 Prince's Trust
group travelled to Pitlochry for a 2-day outdoor adventure activity
break. This was made possible through a grant awarded by the Scottish
Youth Hostel Association. The group of 12 pupils and 3 adults stayed at
the youth hostel in Pitlochry which sits on a hill overlooking the town.
They enjoyed rock climbing and canoeing which was organized and run by
'Beyond Adventure', an activity company based in Aberfeldy. Beautiful
weather added to the enjoyment of both these activities. As a special
treat the group used some of the profits from a recent enterprise
project to purchase tickets for a comedy play being staged at the
Pitlochry Festival Theatre. This was enjoyed by all. An outing such as
this helps to build confidence and strengthen independence. It also
encourages development of problem solving skills as well as a memorable
experience for everyone involved.
